The Malecon 2000 is a lengthy boardwalk along the river that's beautiful and packed with entertainment. In the center of the Malecon, there's "La Rotonda", a remarkable monument that commemorates the historic meeting between Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin to discuss independence. Other places worth visiting include Malecon Salado, Parque Historico, Cerro Blanco, and the Botanical Gardens. Guayaquil is a lively, sprawling city known as the "Pacific Pearl" due to its natural beauty and stunning surroundings. Some even argue that Guayaquil is Ecuador's top destination, though don't let Quito hear that.
